What Is Weiman Disinfectant Granite & Stone Clean & Shine?

A stone cleaner that disinfects while it works.

Weiman Disinfectant Granite & Stone Clean & Shine is a pH-balanced cleaner for natural stone with a disinfectant built in. One pass cleans the surface, kills bacteria and leaves a shine, where otherwise you would be reaching for three separate bottles.

That combination exists because of the kitchen. A counter where raw chicken, fish and pork get handled asks for more than a wipe, and the usual answer to that is bleach, which happens to be the one thing you must keep away from stone.

Weiman gets at the problem in a way stone can live with. The hygiene is there, and the sealer stays in the pores and the polish stays bright, which is not what bleach and antibacterial sprays leave behind after a year of use.

Use it on granite, marble and travertine. Engineered quartz takes Quartz Clean & Shine, which is built around a resin surface instead.

Why Does a Stone Counter Need Disinfecting?

Because the surface is porous, and the obvious remedy wrecks it.

Raw food on a porous surface

Chicken, fish and pork go straight onto the counter in most kitchens around Iloilo City. Sealed granite keeps the liquid up on the surface, but wiping with water alone pushes bacteria around instead of killing any of it.

Bleach is the wrong tool

Bleach and antibacterial sprays pull the sealer out, take the edge off a polish and, on marble and travertine, etch the stone outright. They fix the hygiene problem by creating a permanent one.

Unsealed stone is the real risk

Once the sealer has worn away, liquid soaks in and nothing you spray on top can reach what has already been absorbed. Try the water test: a few drops left somewhere out of sight for 15 minutes, and if the stone goes darker it wants sealing before hygiene is even worth discussing.

Cutting boards still matter

No cleaner does away with the need for a board. Cutting on stone blunts your knives, scores the sealer and puts raw food onto the surface for no reason. Use a board and this bottle becomes a backstop rather than the entire defense.

How Do You Use Weiman Clean & Shine?

Three steps, and the dwell time is the one that counts.

1

Clear the Surface First

Sweep off crumbs and food debris before anything is sprayed. A disinfectant only works on what it can reach, and whatever is lying on top shields the stone beneath it.

2

Spray and Let It Dwell

Contact time is what makes a disinfectant work, and it is the step nearly everybody skips. Spray, walk away for as long as the bottle specifies, and resist wiping it straight back off.

3

Wipe and Buff Dry

Wipe it down with a clean cloth, then bring the shine up with dry microfiber so nothing streaks. On a long counter, work in sections so no part dries before you get to it.

This is one of the stone care products we keep on the shelf in Iloilo City, alongside the sealers that keep a porous counter protected to begin with. Ask at the counter in Iloilo.

Can You Use Bleach on Stone?

No. It is the most common way a counter gets ruined.

No. Bleach strips impregnating sealer back out of the pores, and a porous stone is then wide open to whatever oil or wine arrives next. Nothing looks wrong on the day; the stain shows up a month later.

Calcium carbonate makes it worse still. Marble, travertine and onyx are attacked by bleach and by acidic bathroom sprays alike, leaving dull patches that no cleaner will bring back.

Oven cleaner, descaler and most heavy-duty kitchen sprays fall into the same category. Where a bottle does not state that it is safe on natural stone, work on the basis that it is not.

Vinegar earns a warning of its own. Any number of households treat it as the natural, harmless option, and it is an acid, so it etches marble, travertine and onyx the moment it touches them.

A stone-safe disinfectant exists so that the trade never has to be made. You get the hygiene and the sealer survives.

Should You Buy This or the Granite Polish?

This one for most kitchens. The polish for a dull counter.

Buy this one where the counter is in good order and raw food is part of the routine. Cleaning, disinfecting and shining happen in a single pass at ₱1,500, which covers ordinary daily use.

Pick Granite & Stone Polish at ₱1,700 where months of soap film or hard water have already taken the shine off. Its business is recovering the reflection, not routine hygiene.

A fair number of kitchens end up with both bottles, and there is nothing wrong with that. Bring a neglected surface back with the polish, then hold it there with this one.

Neither of them seals. Whichever you buy, it is the water test that decides when the stone is ready for Proseal.

Weiman vs Our Other Care Products

Cleaners maintain, sealers protect.

Weiman cleans and disinfects

₱1,500, for natural stone in a working kitchen. The only bottle we carry that deals with hygiene as well as cleaning.

Granite & Stone Polish restores shine

Stone Care Granite & Stone Polish at ₱1,700 clears away built-up film so a dulled polish comes back. No disinfectant in it.

Quartz Clean & Shine is for the other material

Quartz Clean & Shine at ₱1,700 is built for resin-bound quartz. Do not put a natural stone cleaner on quartz, or the other way round.

Proseal is the one that protects

Tenax Proseal at ₱4,600 coats the pores against oil and water. Cleaning is not protection, and on a porous granite this is the purchase that counts for most.

What It Will Not Do

Three limits worth knowing before you buy.

1

It Does Not Seal

Protection of a porous stone is beyond any cleaner. Where the water test shows the counter drinking, a sealer is needed no matter how thoroughly the surface has been cleaned.

2

It Does Not Lift a Stain

A stain has gone down into the stone, so a surface cleaner cannot get at it. Stains want a poultice to draw them out, and the Iloilo counter can advise on which one.

3

It Does Not Undo Etching

Acid damage on marble or travertine is physical rather than residue. Light etches buff out with marble polishing powder; nothing sprayed on will reverse them.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use bleach on my granite counter?

No. Bleach pulls the sealer out of the pores and leaves the stone open to staining, and on marble or travertine it etches permanently. Use a disinfectant made for natural stone instead.

What is the difference between this and Granite & Stone Polish?

This one disinfects as it cleans, at ₱1,500, which suits a kitchen where raw food is handled. Granite & Stone Polish at ₱1,700 concentrates on clearing built-up film to restore shine on a dulled counter.

Is a stone counter hygienic for preparing raw meat?

Yes. Sealed stone cleaned with a stone-safe disinfectant is fine, though a cutting board is still worth using. Cutting straight onto stone blunts knives and scores the sealer, which is what creates the hygiene problem to begin with.

Do I need to let it sit before wiping?

Yes. Disinfectants need contact time, and wiping straight away is the mistake we hear about most. Follow the dwell time printed on the bottle, then wipe and buff dry.

Can I use it on marble and travertine?

Yes. It is pH-balanced for natural stone, which is exactly what a calcium carbonate surface wants. Keep acidic cleaners and bleach well away from those materials.

Can I use it on engineered quartz?

Use the quartz bottle instead. Quartz is resin-bound and resists staining, and a natural stone product can leave residue sitting on the surface with nowhere to go.

Does it replace sealing?

No. Cleaning and protection are two jobs. A counter can be spotless and still drink oil. Run the water test once or twice a year and reach for Proseal when it fails.
